Busy Life vs Me Time

Busy Life

So, your life is busy

Every day has its own list of to-do’s that keep us running around. You might spend your day putting out fires, running kids to their activities, or trying to get in that much-needed nap. Because we spend most of the day in survival mode, it can be challenging to find the time and energy to focus on yourself and your own well-being. A balanced life includes time for you to reflect and get to know yourself. This kind of life allows you to grow and thrive through the day-to-day – not lose yourself in the process. What does a balanced life look like? How can you cultivate the most joy and health in your life while still making time for you?

Know when to say no

A big step in prioritizing your mental health and well-being is learning when to say no. This may look like turning down a social event, an extra project at work, or something that sounds appealing but will require more of you than you can give. Learning how and when to say no takes courage. When you do this, you might feel like you’re letting the people around you down – but the truth is, if you’re not strong mentally, you’re not doing them any good by over-committing or showing up as a run-down version of yourself. Saying yes to everything is a quick way to push yourself too hard – and when that happens, it can negatively affect your nervous system, stress levels, hormones and overall health.

Know when to say yes

Let’s talk about balance. Being the right kind of busy means saying yes to the right things. When you say no to something, you’re saying yes to something else. Learning to say yes to your own health and happiness is huge! Try saying yes to some “me time” this week. Why? When we get time to recoup with ourselves, we dramatically increase productivity and focus once we return to our tasks – and we do it with more of ourselves intact.

“I’m busy doing me”

It’s time to get picky with your priorities. Set time aside to take a walk or engage in a hobby that brings you joy. Prioritize those things in your life that help you fulfill your goals and dreams. Put yourself at the top of your to-do list, and get your “me time” in. When you schedule in time to prioritize yourself, you are able to recharge, renew and refresh your being, which allows you to show up as your best self. That kind of balance brings value to you and everyone around you.

How to succeed at both

Sometimes, we think we can’t afford to put ourselves at the top of our lists – when really, we can’t afford not to. The truth is, anytime you say yes to something, you’re saying no to something else. The key to success is learning to balance when and what you say yes and no to. Learning to say yes to your “me time” allows you to bring the best and highest-vibrational version of yourself to whatever comes next. Then, when you do say yes to the things that excite you, you’re a balanced you, living out your truth.

Get busy doing you, and lead the balanced life that brings you joy. ✨
