The Power of Positive Words

21 Day Program

Have you ever met someone who saw the best in you? Or who had an encouraging word no matter what? Some people find this in a friend, a therapist, or even a perfect stranger.

Unfortunately, many people don’t get enough encouragement in the world. And even when they do, they might find it’s hard to compete with their worst critic – themselves.

Self-thoughts can become a never-ending loop of negativity, often mirroring the negative attitudes of others. It doesn’t have to stay this way. There is a way not only to combat your own negative thoughts but to become your own biggest fan. This is known as a positive affirmation.

At Soaak, we provide this through Mindful Intentions™ – powerful statements helping you focus on what’s important to you and how you want to experience the world.

We’ve heard countless times how our Mindful Intentions have helped Soaak members feel better and focus on the positives. But don’t just take it from us, science supports this as well. Here’s what you should know about why, and how, to change your thoughts.

Ready to jump into positive affirmations? Learn more about how Soaak can help.

Research on Positive Thought

We know from our own experience and customers that Mindful Intentions can help people feel better, but researchers have also proven it.

This can be seen on the most basic level. Studies have shown that positive thoughts, music, and prayer may actually change the structure of water. A famous researcher, Dr. Masaru Emoto, created a series of tests that showed the chemical structure of ice crystals changed depending on what energy they were exposed to.

Our brains work the same. The energy and environment around us, in both the physical and emotional forms, make a difference in our lives. Intentional thoughts and messages are powerful tools for positive change.

According to research, positive affirmations provide, among other benefits:

  •     Increased self-confidence
  •     Lowered stress
  •     Better learning
  •     Improved health
  •     Easier relationships

Positive thoughts can set off a positive spiral. As people start to feel better and more encouraged about life, they are also more likely to get active. This could mean physical activity or simply working towards a goal that’s important to them.

Shifting your energy can start simply. It could begin by taking a walk, even when you don’t feel like it. It could start with a piece of art, or a text to a friend you’ve missed.

And before that, it starts with a thought. Even if you don’t believe in it, your instinctual brain will. With repetition, your habit will change from negative thoughts to more helpful, positive ones.

Try positive thinking for yourself. Learn more here about our programs at Soaak.

Don’t Believe Your Negative Thoughts

Many of our discouraging thoughts come from fear. You might criticize yourself because you are afraid you’ll fail at work. Or you may expect the worst about a relationship because you don’t want to be disappointed.

Ironically, thinking negatively may actually make these things more likely to happen, not less. If you expect to fail, you may unintentionally make choices that sabotage yourself. And if you avoid opportunities, then things are unlikely to change.

It can be helpful to notice when your thoughts are based in fear, and not in fact. From that point, you can start to change them.

What are Some Positive Affirmations?

What exactly is a positive affirmation – a Mindful Intention? It’s a supportive and constructive statement you’re meant to speak repeatedly until you and your brain believe it,  countering the habit of thinking the worst.

Examples of positive affirmations include:

  •     I am smart and capable.
  •     I take on each day with excitement and optimism.
  •     I see challenges as new opportunities.
  •     I can achieve any goal I choose to focus on.

Even if it feels strange at first, positive thoughts work, especially over time. At first you may notice subtle differences, and within a few weeks, it can change the natural pathways in your brain.

How to Change Your Thoughts

It may seem impossible to talk nicely to yourself most days, but you can! It just takes a choice to do so, and a little practice.

So how can you make this shift? At Soaak, that’s what we’re all about. We offer 21-Day Programs that help train your brain to change negative thinking patterns. Rather than beating yourself up, you’ll practice being your own best friend. And no matter what’s going on around you, no one can take that from you.

We send our members up to three Mindful Intention messages to think about and repeat each day. Over time, this will become your habit and actually change how your brain works.
